Here are some personal accounts about the Stratford community experience. We hope you'll feel the excitement and satisfaction, and that your voice will someday join the chorus!

After 67 years of living in Kokomo, Indiana, I found the whole prospect of moving to be overwhelming.
But maybe the scariest task was finding new doctors. Nancy Hanley, our My Health Care Manager representative, was with us every step of the way, from transferring all of our medical information to helping us find new doctors. All of our information is updated in our "black binders," and the doctors have all been just wonderful.
She has also helped us become more involved with the wellness program here as well as showing us how to use the telemedicine machine which monitors weight, blood pressure and heart rate.

Nancy encouraged us to use the fitness facilities, so I'm trying to go down and work on the stretching exercises twice a week. I’ve really been impressed with the physicians they recommended to us – they've just been great.

My mother has asked me, "What would I do without you?" And now I can safely answer, "Call My Health Care Manager!" The services of My Health Care Manager have been invaluable to me. I live and work in Terre Haute, Indiana – and while I get over here a few times during the month, it's comforting to know that I can call Nancy if I have a concern about my parents' health. They were also invaluable in helping us with the Medicare supplemental information.
While I'm a caretaker in a way, I have someone who is helping ME now in the form of Nancy and My Health Care Manager. I feel like they are my partners in care giving … as well as good friends. Putting the "Active" in Active Senior Living

I grew up in Indianapolis, attending Shortridge High School as well as Indiana University. I was very active in a number of arts and philanthropic groups and continued those activities following my husband's retirement when we moved to Sarasota, Florida.
Coming back to Indianapolis, I've started reconnecting to a number of groups and people, and My Health Care Manager has been great at fostering this. Nancy Hanley has also been a great help in making introductions to professional service people for a review of my banking and legal documents to make sure those things established in Arizona translate to Indiana law.

Our instructor is a neat lady, a good instructor and has a delightful personality. We’ve enjoyed the class a lot. It’s been very beneficial. Any exercise you do past 80 is a good thing. She certainly keeps you on your toes! We were already active with our dancing, but the class has forced us to become more active. And it helps us get ready to go to Florida in the wintertime!

I’ve had several surgeries on my hip and have emphysema. I can’t do everything they do in the classes, but do what I can. My husband and I both think it’s worthwhile. We both do our classes together. It’s a wonderful exercise facility. It’s a very nice group of people that come down to them. We have a lot of get-together time and sometimes have a cup of coffee afterward in the dining room. We’re enjoying it.
We’ve found the staff here is very, very good. They are trying hard to accommodate all of the wants and activities we’d like. Our instructor is wonderful, and everyone they’ve had over here from St. Vincent has been great. I can’t find one thing to complain about. They’re very good and helpful to senior citizens. |
