As Chief Marketing and Business Development Partner, Wendy leads the strategic marketing and business development efforts for The Stratford Companies. She chairs the Marketing and Sales Committee and sits on the Board of Managers and the Executive Committee. Her role includes developing and managing new business opportunities, managing client relationships, and creating and maintaining corporate branding and project launches.
Since 2000, she has headed up a consulting practice, Horn & Associates, LLC, specializing in new project launches and related marketing and sales strategies. Her practice and projects have been national and international in scope with special emphasis on retirement communities, housing, and health care.
Wendy began her career in the seniors housing business in 1984 with the Forum Group, the pioneer developer and operator of for-profit, integrated seniors housing and care campuses, based in Indianapolis, Indiana. While at Forum, she was involved in the planning, marketing, and operations of approximately $350 million in seniors housing and care assets. Notable CCRCs in her portfolio include the Forum at the Crossing in Indianapolis, Indiana; The Forum at Deer Creek in Deer Creek, Florida; and The Forum at Overland Park in Kansas City.
In addition to the Forum projects, Wendy led the development marketing, acquisition, and disposition efforts for proprietary owners and operators; not-for-profit sponsors; and private investors of seniors housing projects around the U.S. Some of these include Mercy Health Services, The Formidable Group, HADC, and National Guest Homes (acquired by Marriott Senior Living).
Wendy has a B.S. in Biology from Denison University and an M.H.A. in Business and Health Administration from Indiana University. She is also a licensed commercial real estate professional. In addition, she is a Lacy Leadership Fellow in Indianapolis; is an Associate Member of the Young President’s Organization (YPO); and sits on the Advisory Board for Maryville College.
